The visionary game developer, the mind behind the wildly popular video game Call of Duty, has tragically died in a traffic collision in Los Angeles, California at the age of 55.
Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.
The celebrated industry figure lost his life when his car crashed and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in LA on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.
"We are facing a devastating loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's family, his loved ones, and all those touched by his work," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts said.
