Ex- Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a former physician has been charged with performing assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
