Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his future after a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.
The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.
They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.
“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from above,” the coach stated.
“It would be great to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”
He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”
Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:
“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”
He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”
The manager expressed regret over known shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.
“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.
“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”
He added, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”
“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a period such as this with results like these.”
He finished, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”
“We will attempt to get this team back to where it needs to be, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the world.”
“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
